Summer 2006, Mike Parrish rented a beach cabin, in Crystal Beach, Texas to spend a week long vacation away from the world of law enforcement and to get reacquainted with his family. Seven days on the sandy shores of the Gulf of Mexico was a trip the Parrish family took every year. Even though the family lived less than an hour away, nothing quite relaxed Mike as much as sitting on the deck and listening to a favorite song with the warm Summer ocean breeze on his face and a cold Corona in his hand.

This year would be different because, after many years of separation, Mike was reunited with a lifelong friend and he had invited this childhood buddy to stay the week. Sammy Hundley, a professional musician, and Mike had planned to spend a couple of days laying a demo track for a song Mike had written some twenty years prior to this vacation. Oddly enough, that song was entitled "Runnin' Outa Time."

Mike's first love had always been music. Country music, rock, pop, blues, there simply were no boundaries because Mike could find the soul of any genre and the true message of any song. He knew that Sammy, above all, shared this same love for music and also that Sammy had carved out a living playing throughout the greater Houston area while becoming one of the most accomplished, even masterful, musicians in the region. As they sat on the deck of that Crystal Beach cabin, they laughed at recollections of blaring Kiss records while they simultaneously played "air guitar." Mrs. Parrish's sofa (Mike's mom) doubled as a stage, even while only in her absence, and the boys would often leap from its cushions into the air for imaginary crowds who cheered them on. Those were indeed the days that Mike recalled with fond memories and also the days that taught him to find the music in life.

While his first ambition was to record the songs that had filled his heart and mind as a teenager and young adult, life just got in the way of that plan and Mike used this same drive to become a distinguised Texas Peace Officer after serving a tour of duty in the United States Army. Through his long career as a street cop, investigator, police chief in two cities and finally an elected constable, Mike Parrish found much to write about. The personal trials of life and the tribulations of others, as seen through the eyes of a police officer, were many and, it seemed, whether these times were heartbreaking or joyous, there was always a song to be found. As the years passed, a yellowing notebook was packed from room to room and from house to house which was filled with the passion of life and living that was conveyed through the music of Mike Parrish.

That yellowing notebook of songs that he'd written was still being moved from room to room and home to home but none of these songs had found their way to the ears and hearts of those for which they were written.

Sammy and Mike went into a closed room at that Crystal Beach cabin and, after approximately ten hours of working (and playing) they emerged with the demo track of Mike's song "Runnin' Outa Time." The next day they repeated this process and created the demo for "End of Forever." Even while neither of them really talked about it, they both believe that this was when it was subliminally decided to record an entire album. Once the wheels began to roll it was merely perpetual motion afterward because Mike and Sammy worked day and night recording the songs that Mike wrote and chose for the album that would soon be titled, "Texas in the Man."

This music reflects the life of a man who loves his fellow man and who devoted his life to the protection of his country. In this album you'll hear of Mike's victories and tragedies from "Color Me Gone" to "Angel Fly." These tunes are written in such a way that any one can relate to the trials that formed them and the fibers of life from which they were crafted.

When the recording of the album "Texas in the Man" was completed. Sammy and Mike, along with Mike's mother Ms. Mary Credeur, went on to form Willow Street Entertainment Group and Hangin' Boot Records in 2007. Both "Texas in the Man" and Sammy Hundley's acoustic album, "House Full of Nothing," were recorded on their own label.

Mike is the father of five children, (Misty, Mikey, Forrest, Krsytal & Amanda) four grandchildren (Dion, Dyson, Madilyn and Kendrick with 3 more on the way including a set of twins). He, and his wife Tonya, will soon celebrate their 21st anniversary. Sammy, although divorced, is the father of Matthew and Micaela.

January 31, 2008, Mike retired from his position as a Texas Peace Officer and now continues to pour his heart and soul into this first true love . . . music. After recording the album, "Texas in the Man," Mike and Sammy teamed up and began playing local pubs, night clubs and other venues throughout the greater Houston area under the moniker of "Sammy & Mike." As time went on and their music gained some recognition, Sammy and Mike changed their stage name to PARRISH-HUNDLEY and began booking shows in Louisiana and Texas. If the readers of this bio will take a moment to check out the NEWS section of Parrish-Hundley Home Page and you'll be able to follow the chronological order of the events as they took place.

Thanks for checking out our website and for all of your tremendous love and support!

Breaking: Anya Marina

**Who:** Anya Marina, a pixie-ish Michigan-born California gal who ditched a sputtering film career (*100 Girls*, anyone?) to become a local disc jockey. Honing her songwriting chops by immersing herself in music all day allowed her to claim the San Diego local open-mike crown; a song on the *Grey's Anatomy* soundtrack called "Miss Halfway" scored her a national audience. **Sounds Like:** The dozen songs on *Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II* are a mixture of Liz Phair sex appeal and Boswell Sisters cabaret with a dash of Jung. "You can have a side to you that's overt and raw, but usually it's reserved for the bedroom or your innermost thoughts of your mind," she tells *Rolling Stone*. "Some artists are used to going there and that's part of their shtick. I didn't want to put on airs." She credits the intensity of her singing on "Afterparty At Jimmy's" to turning out the lights in the studio and taking her shirt off. "It was fun; it was nice." **Vital Stats:** • Marina's father is a Jungian psychologist who, instead of asking how her homework was coming along, would probe her about how her relationships were developing. If he were to ask her that question today, the answer would apparently be: slowly. Marina was recently on her fifth date with a guy who was trying to talk through why things weren't working out between them. "It was a fucking three-hour long conversation," she says. "I'm thinking 'dude, you've never even tried to kiss me and we're talking about why we're not dating.' Sometimes you can't talk it out. Just shut the fuck up and throw me on the bed."

Hype Monitor: Hatcham Social, Benjy Ferree and Cynic

*Every week, Hype Monitor wades through the most buzzed-about bands all across the Internet to find the ones you need to hear now.* **The Band:** Hatcham Social **The Buzz:** U.K. outfit revives the old sound of Scotland, bringing back clanging chords, loose percussion and loopy vocals. **Listen If:** For you, Orange Juice is more than just a morning beverage. **Key Track:** "Wild Creatures," where swooping vocals run loop-de-loops around vibrant, violent guitars. **The Band:** Benjy Ferree **The Buzz:** Weirdo concept rock from D.C., big banging guitars and huff-n-puff vocals, like Broadway gone bonkers. **Listen If:** Your chief requirement for pop music is unpredictability. **Key Track:** "Dog Killers," a big, noisy rave-up wrapped up in grainy, grimy guitars.

Breaking: Vivian Girls

Who: The Vivian Girls, three Brooklyn-via-New Jersey gals who went from forming to opening for Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo to landing on year-end critics' list in just over a year. Sounds Like: With 10 songs clocking in under 25 minutes, their debut album is a flash flood of surf punk, girl group croon and heavy reverb. Inspirations like the Wipers, Nirvana and the Shangri-La's are evident on songs like the poppy but abrasive "Going Insane" and super-catchy "Where Do You Run To." "When we started out, we just wanted to be a really, really fast band with really short songs," guitarist-singer Cassie Ramone jokes. "That was our original game plan. Now we're trying to write songs that are longer than two minutes. We're aiming for two-and-a-half minute songs." Vital Stats: • Ramone and bassist Kickball Katy formed the band in 2007 after first meeting in high school. "We met at a Weezer concert," Ramone says. They recently recruited Katy's college friend Ali Koehler to step in as drummer. Cassie Ramone got her nom de rock after what she calls an obsession with the Ramones' Rock N Roll High School, while Katy's nickname has a more mysterious origin. "In 2002, I went to college and joined the Super Secret Kickball Society," Katy says. "But I can't talk about it."

Glasvegas Douse Nirvana's "Come As You Are" in Fuzzy Drone on New Cover

Scottish band to watch Glasvegas know how to drone, and they do it well on this new cover of Nirvana's "Come As You Are." If you've ever wanted to hear the Nevermind track on 'ludes, now is your chance: the quartet slow the tempo without sacrificing the song's drama, amping up the reverb without losing their guitars in mush. Check it out here: [Listen]
