dear E

first off, congratulations ...this song could easily been taken from any old mainstream charts...it reminds me of the midnight slows they used to play at parties i went to in my teenager days...that would be the mid-eighties era...

if i would have to awards points to several aspects of the song, i would break it down like this..

1. composition/song structure: 3/5...i think the song is kinda missing a distinct melodic hook (Love was made for two), it's practically the same melody as the verse, ..i had to listen a couple times to actually pinpoint where the chorus was...you do have some kind of pre-chorus going on, which is superb, but was a little dissapointed in the hook and verses not showing enough contrast, in my humble opinion

2. lyrics: your opening line sets the stage and gives the listener a clear idea of what the rest of the song is going to be about (settling down with your loved one, the wish to end your playing games' days)...that's super...

you sparingly make use of rhymes, but i do think your rhyming could be better
you also integrate repetition, which is good for people to remember your song more easily, so they can easily sing along after a listen or two

overall, for lyrics, i would like to give this tune a 3.5/5

3. vocals...really, really well done, it breathes soul allover, nuthin more to say...4.5/5

4. rythm/harmony/melody...4/5 ...i must say, in order to review your song i had to listen to it a couple times and the whole thing is now stuck in my mind like a leech on someone's leg...in a very good way i mean...without thinking too technical, it's a song that is easy remembered with simple harmony and melody...i think written by the book, with a rythmic break where it's supposed to be, and also a nice rythmic intro

5. sounds..: great sound, i just wanted to mention that (although i am totally into guitar music and have no specific knowledge on MIDI)...your synth sounds could've been made more professional sounding...to be honest i would think you used a casio or something..but maybe that's my lack of knowledge on electronic sounds and synthesisers...3/5

conclusion...lemme just do the math here lol and calculate you average total score:

Old school rhythm/blues in a very soulful arrangement. E entertains you well with his story line and song construction. Add into that some quality vocals - (I only wish I had the instrument of voice as well presented as it is here!) and you have a product that works. Just one small observation, I felt that that the vocal mix might be presented even better with a bit more volume/presence. These comments have been brought to you by Mr. Bill, regular guy (lol)
